Systems Engineer - REQ ASAP

As a senior developer, you will be involved in all stages of developing the product you are working on. You'll create new product ideas and help guide the product roadmap, spec out what the next generation will look like, and implement it yourself. Our Client is seeking a seasoned, forward thinking Systems Engineer to join the Operations team. This is a full-time position based in their Toronto office. This position will be primarily responsible for managing and providing active support for mission-critical server environment running established and cutting-edge platforms such as: MySQL, Linux, Apache, Ejabberd, CouchDB, and Sphinx.

Responsibilities

- Continually improve the performance and scalability of the site

- Configure servers and network

- Monitor site stability and performance

- Troubleshoot issues with hardware, software, applications and network

- Prioritize tasks and work independently yet interact well within a project-oriented team environment

- Solve problems quickly and automate processes

- Pick up new technologies and services quickly

- Develop and maintain back up systems, monitoring tools and automation systems

- Debug issues with Linux software, applications and network

- Resolve technical challenges encountered in LAMP technologies

- Document current and future configuration processes and policies

- Occasional in 24x7 on-call support

Requirements

- B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience

- 4+ years of experience with Linux

- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, security, LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP), and MTAs

- Scripting and programming skills (Such as Perl, Python, or Ruby is a plus)

- Experience with troubleshooting firewalls, VPNs, Load Balancers, IP Routing

- Working knowledge of MySQL administration, replication, backup, querying (SQL)

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
