one of our many under-promoted options is membership. That's partly because we haven't quite managed to get all of these offerings working yet... (see the following Fundraising Membership Disclaimer) that said, there has been ongoing systems development, with technologies coming online and talented people coming onboard, and with your help and patience, we will have the following features online, but until that time, there may be some technical delays.

There are four levels of annual membership, each one named after a different size penguin, and each offering a different set of benefits.

Little Blue Fairy - $12

The littlest penguin represents the basic annual membership. As an LBF, you get a unique user name, that is tied to your ID on our website, and to a /home directory on our servers. With that, when renting one of our thin-client laptops, you get to save all of your settings, bookmarks, desktop backgrounds etc. to be resumed on your next visit. You get a yourname@linuxcaffe.ca email address forwarded wherever you like and you can borrow books.

Rockhopper - $24

This sturdy little penguin offers a larger /home directory, 5 email addresses and a discounted first hour of laptop rental.

King - $120

One of the more successful species, this level offers even, more /home directory space, more email addresses than you'll know what to do with, remote access, shell access, a bootable-linux-on-a-USB-stick that you can use anywhere, and a linuxcaffe T-shirt.

Emperor - $1200

This rare breed is the largest of all penguins. This level of membership can be thought of as corporate sponsorship, and entitles the member to logo visibility on our website and/ or physical signage. Emperors have access to facilities, technical support, input regarding events and promotions, plus all the benefits of the King level. And the red carpet, brass plaque, fawning, bowing and scraping thanks, of course.

SOME THINGS DO NOT WORK YET !
Right now, user /home creation, website password sharing/ email setup is done by hand, by only a few staff members, and needs to be made more streamlined, automated and scalable. We're working on that, and your membership fee will help us get these systems up and running. We still have some T-shirts in stock, and will be getting lots more in. The USB keys should be ready in a day, or two. Remember; these half-baked benefits are being offered at this time, in part, to gather funds to make them real. Some elements will take time to be implemented and come with no guarantees at this time but all benefits listed (and some not yet listed) will be made available to you as soon as possible.
